When i went off plaquenil i got fevers

After the fevers I get severe chilblains on my fingers, ears and toes. This I have always attributed to the Raynauds I was diagnosed with as a child.

Jan 11, 2012 So that's the update. The lesson here is - for those who need to go off plaquenil, be careful about just going off it cold turkey. Obviously some of CAN do that, but if you don't know if you're one of them - better to be on the safe side and wean slowly. Take it from me! I am feeling much better after bumping my dose back up over the last few. I am just now coming off 300 mg Plaquenil after 9 years as it is likely causing bone marrow failure -- another very rare reaction. I wonder, now that it is more prescribed and has been for over a decade, if more of us will see previously unknown ill effects. However, the Plaquenil did nothing for the RA, and it is very dangerous for your eyes, so I went off. I have never had a lung problem from mthx, either, although when I went of mthx and Kineret, my biologic for a recent foot reconstructive surgery, I got a vocal fold nodule, and now I can barely talk. Going off methx just exhausted me.

So the reason for the post is to know if anyone here has had similar issues with unexplained fevers that cause chilblains? They typically form in the evenings and hurt like hell. It very mild case that is actually more sensitive to heat then cold.

Aug 29, 2014 One of the reasons that physicians feel comfortable in prescribing Plaquenil is its low risk to benefit ratio. This means that the side effects of Plaquenil are mild and infrequent compared with its potential benefits. As with any medication, allergic reactions including skin rashes and non-allergic reactions can occur. The bark from the "fever tree' was found to contain the antimalarial compound, quinine. In 1820, chemists purified the quinine from the bark. Fast forward to 1951, when there was anecdotal evidence of improvement in lupus and rheumatoid arthritis by WWII Allied troops who were taking a synthetic form of quinine, called quinacrine, to prevent malaria. Yes, plaquenil has helped me a lot. I once went off it, against my rheumatologist's advice. That showed me how much it was helping, because I got progressively worse after stopping it.
